Arrival by Train

The most efficient way to reach Neuchâtel is via the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB/CFF/FFS). The city is well-connected to major hubs:

    • From Geneva Airport (GVA): Trains every 30 min, via Renens (travel time: ~1h 25m).
    • From Zurich Airport (ZRH): Direct trains or connections via Olten/Biel run every ~30 min (travel time: ~2h 00m).
    • From Lausanne: Direct regional and InterCity trains (travel time: ~40m).

    Reaching the EPFL Microcity Campus

    The conference is hosted at the Microcity building, located at Rue de la Maladière 71, Neuchatel.

      • On Foot: It is a pleasant 15-minute walk from the main Neuchatel train station.
      • By Public Transport /Funicular: The “Fun’ambule” connects the train station to the lower part of the city (University/Lake area) in 3 minutes. From the lower station, Microcity is a 10-minute parallel to the lake, or a short ride on Bus 101 (direction Marin-Epagnier) and exit at the “Microcity” stop.

    Practical Information

    • Power Outlets: Switzerland uses Type J plugs (230 V, 50 Hz). While most 2-prong Europlugs (Type C) fit, grounded circular plugs from other EU countries require an adapter.
    • Currency: Swiss Francs (CHF). Credit cards and mobile payments widely accepted.
    • Wifi: Access “EPFL-Guest” for temporary connectivity. Or use Eduroam if your home university supports it (most do).
